Meredith & The Media reached out to Sarah Lynch, Inc.'s recognition program manager, to get some insider tips on winning applications:
Inc. Editorial Team Review. Inc.'s editorial team personally reviews each application, so if you want to stand out, take care with your submission — and with the companies you connect us with as customer references. This will guide our editorial judgment in deciding who makes the list.
Provide Customer References. In the application, you'll provide Inc. with the names of at least three (3) and up to ten (10) companies that have used your products or services over the past year. Inc. will send a survey containing four straightforward questions asking how likely your customer is to recommend your product or service.
Share Qualitative Responses. Inc.'s team really looks at qualitative responses. In the open-ended questions, they urge applicants to "really tell us your story" and specifically: what is different in your offering from your competitors that makes a difference? For an editor who might not be familiar with the ins and outs of your specific industry, help them understand how your service stands apart.
Show the Metrics. Growth metrics, stats on successful projects, etc. are really helpful. Metrics give more to point to as far as why your company should be included on the list — and maybe even worthy of an interview.
“It’s no secret that small businesses are up against plenty of challenges right now, so what a thrill it is to honor the B2B companies that are really making a difference for the companies they work with.” -- Sarah Lynch, recognition program manager, Inc. Magazine
