Attention Tech PR pros!
Bloomberg Managing Editor of Global Consumer Tech, Mark Gurman, announced in a LinkedIn post the appointment of two new consumer tech journalists to the team.
Former CNN, CNET and Mashable reporter, Samantha Murphy Kelly, will join Mark’s team starting May 19th, focused on features, explainers, and breaking hardware news tied to major players like Meta, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Samsung,Peloton, Garmin and the emerging home robotics space. As part of the role, she’ll also appear on Bloomberg TV as well as Bloomberg’s upcoming Apple and consumer tech-focused podcast.
Former Verge reporter, Chris Welch, will also join Mark’s team effective May 19th where he’ll lead Bloomberg’s reviews coverage, reporting on product launches, break consumer tech news, and continue reporting on Sonos. Like Sam, Chris will also be a regular contributor to the upcoming podcast and video programming.
The hires come after Bloomberg announced plans to expand coverage of its consumer technology beat in March. Their goal is to report on “the world’s leading hardware companies more deeply than ever–aiming to break news on every major consumer tech launch, diving into the details of new products and trends and delivering best-in-class reviews across smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, TVs, audio gear, fitness trackers, glasses and headsets.”
Congrats, Sam and Chris! And well done, Bloomberg!
